US Congressman's Sex Scandal Causes Resignation





"Upon further discussion with my family, I have made the decision to resign my position,’’ Murphy, an eight-term member of the House of Representatives, serving since 2003 said.
He made the statement on Thursday also citing his unwillingness to consider re-election to congress at the expiration of the current term, which would do so in 15 months.
The House Of Republican Leaderships had urged Murphy,  who represents Pennsylvania's 18th Congressional District,  to step down after he was now seen as a distraction as the party fights for Major tax reforms.
“I’ve spoken with Tim quite a bit the last couple of days.
“I think it’s appropriate that he moves on to the next chapter of his life,’’ House Speaker Paul Ryan addressed a press conference which came before Murphy’s
Murphy an active advocate of anti-abortion laws was left in awe after a U.S media reported text messages exchanges which showed Murphy had asked a certain woman half his age,  who,  in September,  he had admitted to an affair with,  to abort an unborn child. It was seen as a Catastrophic political punch.
“I’ve never written them, staffers do them, I read them and winced. “I told staff not to write anymore,’’ Murphy said of the anti-abortion statements released in his name after the woman complained of his inconsistent stance.
