For Jack and Laurie Beaton from Bakersfield, California, the Route 91 Harvest Festival held in Las Vegas on sunday night was a perfect spot for a 23rd wedding anniversary in on Sunday.
At sundown, the fun was even getting much more as Jack shared a facebook photo of his wife and friends who had smiles on their faces and bottles on the table. They were simply living the moment.
Then, barely two hours gone, terror struck.
It rained bullets which the pair initially mistook it to be fireworks not until Laurie had a close contact which brushed off her shoulders
As they both took cover on the ground, Laurie was beneath Jack who shielded her from the bullets. “He told me, ‘Get down, get down, get down,’ ” she said.
“He told me, ‘I love you, Laurie’ and his arms were around me and his body just went heavy on me.” on realizing that those words were the last of a dying man who loved for nearly three decades.
“I screamed his name and he wasn’t answering me, there was a lot of blood,” she said.
