The police force headquarters has confirmed the rescue of a divisional police office in Niger state  who was earlier kidnapped.
The police superindent, Aliyu Amos who heads the Dark Pawa Divisional headquarters in Niger state was freed with the help of the police special forces around 6:oo pm. Jimoh Moshood, police spokesperson made this known.
The spokesman gave details on the apprehension of suspected kidnappers that occurred during the rescue mission and assured of necessary follow up of preliminary investigation which would lead to them being arraigned.
Mr. Amos’ gained freedom just a day after Inspector-General Ibrahim Idris lamented on ever increasing abduction of officers of the force and labelled to it as “annoying” and “embarrassing,”
The police chief said police officers must embrace the risks in their job and review the security priorities accordingly.
“Our officers have to be concerned about their personal safety first because this issue is becoming an embarrassment,” Mr. Idris said at a meeting with state commissioners in Abuja Wednesday.
Commissioners would also be held “liable for any policeman that is just picked up like a fowl or anything, it is very annoying.”
It's now becoming a trend as Emmanuel Adeniyi, Zamfara State Assistant Commissioner of Police, found himself in this entangled position just last month. He, his orderly and family members were kidnapped in Kaguna state while on transit to Kwara state.
